Meet & Greet! Doyle Guitar maker Today! till 4

Cigars, Guitars ....

What a weekend we have coming up!  In addition to Bert Kronnick's FREE fishing gear appraisal clinic (see more below!), this Saturday Mike Doyle of Doyle Guitars will be here from 11 - 3 for a meet & greet with his Cigar Box Guitar fans and friends. Come join us and meet Mike and hear how these Cigar Box Guitars & Uke's really sound!  With both electric & acoustic, Mike has a great variety of shapes and sounds. His newest piece is a stunning piece of art and a slide guitar as well!

I think this is my new favorite ... it is the center one in the photo below.  My little camera didn't do it justice, but the craftsmanship on the neck is an art form in itself. This belongs hanging on the wall next to a great old photo and some framed sheet music.

Above is another image of the Great One...

Check out more images of Mike's great Cigar Box
Guitars below, then come see them for yourself.

Awsome!

Here is a photo of the Uke corner...
Finished with those cigars? Time to
make a little music! Bring the box to Mike and he will craft a one of a kind masterpiece for you!

Yea! That is an Elvis Uke! Once home to a puzzle, now time to play!

What does this all have to do with fishing reels?

From 11 am to 3 pm, Bert Kronnick will be conducting a FREE Appraisal Clinic for vintage fishing gear. Bring that old fishing pole that's been sitting out in the garage all these years collecting dust and see if it might be worth moving to the inside closet!

Bert has a fantastic display of vintage reels and fishing accessories. He would love to show them off and explain anything you don't understand about reels. Bert knows it all!  Come by Saturday and meet the pros...

Bring along your lawn chairs, blankets & umbrellas (which must be taken down at dusk) for a great family day at Ironstone.  Remember there is no outside food or beverage allowed on property. But don't worry!  There are plenty of food vendors, service organizations & the Ironstone Deli to take care of the hunger.

Elvin Bishop in Concert Saturday, June 30th

Photo by Alfred H. Golub/golubphoto.com used by permission
We are excited to have Elvin Bishop here at Ironstone on Saturday, June 30th along with Hank Williams Jr. What a great line up for a fantastic evening.

I have decided to leave the update on Bishop's tour through life up to the pros, so read on a little bit from his offical website...

"Elvin Bishop has been travelling the Blues road longer than most, and he’s got the stories to prove it – many of which are contained within the songs on this release,("Red Dog Speaks"). Stops along the way include his work as a founding member of the groundbreaking Paul Butterfield Blues Band in the early ‘60s, recordings with legends such as Clifton Chenier, John Lee Hooker, and The Allman Brothers, and Pop success with his own 1976 smash hit “Fooled Around and Fell In Love”.

Bishop’s long and varied career has included plenty of side trips along the way as well, from deep down gutbucket Blues played in smoky South Side Chicago taverns, to raucous roadhouse R&B, to good time Rock & Roll on concert stages and festivals around the world. And at every stage along the way, he’s instilled all of his music with passion, creativity, and a healthy helping of wisdom, wit, and good humor."

Doyle Guitars - Meet & Greet

We are having a great time today with Cigar Box Guitar make, Mike Doyle here for a Meet & Greet Day at Ironstone.

Mike brought with him a mini amp to plug into a few of the electric cigar boxes to show us they really do sound great! Amazing what those old cigar boxes can do when put into the right hands!

We were also invaded by a great group of Clampers. Here for a grand tour of Ironstone with our #1 tour guide Conrad.  They discovered Mike and had to have a group shot taken!

You have a several hours left to stop by, say hello to Mike and hear how great a cigar box guitar can sound. Several of the guitars are available for purchase, starting around $475.

I love the little tin Elvis Uke that Mike has put together as a proto type.  He is testing this one out to see if there might be a following... we think YES!
