Robyn Lyee was born at Hill Air Force base outside of Ogden Utah. She spent many summer vacations with her grandparents at their home in Ogden. She has many precious memories of time spent with her grandparents on their front porch, looking out at the mountains in the distance, enjoying the beauty and splendor of nature. Robyn has always been enthralled by nature. Nature's delicate perfect lines and symmetry of shapes, as well as the bold bright variations of colors continually capture her eye.

O-023 Delicate-Arch-Arches- by Robyn Leimer oil 16x20 $1200

Robyn enjoys the spontaneity of plein air painting. Starting out with nothing; being able to absorb it all from sight to sound. Capturing the essence from temperature, atmosphere and feelings evoked around her while finding the truth in nature that is constantly changing. Robyn says, "Plein air painting is a pursuit that continues to challenge me, and I love it. It is JUST PLEIN FUN!"

Meet Spring Obsession 2024 Artist Holly Heath

 Artistic Biography, Holly Heath

O-080 Skeleton-Oak by Holly Heath acrylic 8x10 $150

Holly gets inspiration for her art from the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada. Her work with the Tuolumne River Trust out of Sonora takes her to many scenic and dramatic vistas in and around Tuolumne and Groveland. "Skeleton Oak" is a remnant of the Rim Fire, a stark shell of an oak against a stormy sky caught her attention while working in the burn scar. "Sunny at Spicer" was painted mostly on site at Spicer Reservoir, the small juniper growing out of a slab of granite is a story of survival against all odds in against a stunningly beautiful world full of life and growth.

O-079 Sunny-at-Spicer-by Holly Heath acrylic 24x20 $500

Holly has been painting since she was a child and got her start in watercolor classes with local artist Martha Wallace. Since then drawing and painting has always been a hobby, and in the past years she has been working to produce more developed pieces and share them with the public. Currently she is working primarily with acrylics toward a goal of photorealism, in the interest of capturing not only the image but the quintessence of a scene.

A person of diverse interests, Holly appears on occasion in local plays with Murphys Creek Theater and Shakespeare on the vine as well as performing and teaching clowning with the Sierra Circus.  She also plays music and has a deep love for the outdoors and a wide array of other arts and creative endeavors. Holly lives with her husband and their cat outside downtown Murphys, where they fill their home with art and music.

Meet Spring Obsession 2024 Artist Patti A. Fulton

 FACES IN TIME

Patti A Fulton

Artist - Illustrator

O-005 Muse by Patti Fulton pastel 16x20 $525

Drawing has always been my epithet in art. I obtained a Fine Arts degree at the age of 19. I thin landed some gallery gigs and sold a few pieces. The next few years I did some sailboat traveling.

Upon return, I was hired at the University of California, School of Medicine as an illustrator at the age of 25. This basically served as the next phase of my art education as a Medical Illustrator for UCSD/School of Medicine and Scripps Research in La Jolla, CA for the next 25 years.

I left my career and So Cal. and moved to Northern Idaho in 2001. I then spent the next 20 years being a rancher and working as a designer - abandoning my drawing.

O-006 Icelandic-Herd-by Patti Fulton pastel 16x20 $495

But the desire to draw never left me, nor did my pencils and drafting table, schlepping them everywhere I went - just waiting for me to pick them up again.

After relocating back to California and the beautiful Sierra Foothills in March of 2019, along came a little thing called COVID. I was laid off from my job as a designer and quarantined for 9 months.

It is then I picked up my pencils and began to draw again - this time for myself. My love of animals, my life with horses and the ranch life led me to familiar images. I've always been fascinated with faces - eyes and the story the lines in someone's face tell, from the inside out.

O-007 Ben & Josie by Patti Fulton pencil 16x20 $375 SOLD

My experience in the finely detailed art of medical illustration, anatomy, and patience gave way to my exploration of these faces and the fine detail.

Thank you for sharing your love of art!

Meet Spring Obsession 2024 Artist Victoria Fout

 Victoria Fout

O-054 natures-escapism-by Victoria Fout acrylic 22x28 $1000

Life can be very hard, so I try to add a splash of color and whimsy by imagining my own fantastical worlds and beings, exploring the duality between fantasy and reality, light and darkness, life and death, expressing emotion, and reimagining nature. I create fantastical creatures and surreal landscapes using acrylic on canvass as my main choice of medium. I love a colorful palette and creating different textures. I love to manipulate the paint by using acrylic mediums such as clear tar gel, glass bead medium and molding paste to push the boundaries adding 3-dimensional elements to elevate the painting experience to bring my fantastical worlds even more to life.

I grew up in Angels Camp, California. I found my love for art at Columbia Community College during the most difficult time in my personal life. Art became a life-raft; I found comfort, escape, therapy, and a creative outlet. Art allows me to express myself. I am a local artist with a fresh and unique colorful perspective. I earned my BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2016. My artwork has been shown at the Calaveras County Arts Council, Ironstone Vineyards, Crafty Chicks Road Show, Manzanita Arts Emporium, Stocktoncon and at the Calaveras County Fair. I also serve as a Board member for the Calaveras Arts Council.

Lost within my own darkness I find the colors of expression and joy when I paint, adding fantasy to reality.

My art is an invitation into my world, welcome.

Meet Spring Obsession 2024 Artist Judy Day

 Judy Day Bio:

T-011 Spring is Sprung by Judy Day wc 15x18 $225

I have a degree in graphic design and taught middle school for over 25 years. I've work4ed in all media including animation, sculpture and photography, but watercolor and drawing are my favorites. In watercolor, I like the way the pigments mix on the paper and flow from the tip of the brush, I can play for hours with paper, paint and water. Add some salt and a spray bottle and I'm set for a day or two.

T-012 Black and White by Judy Day ink 10x12 $125

I love learning new techniques and using new colors and combination of colors. I paint and draw every day from only a few minutes to 8 hours or more, I simply love it.

O-025 Ore Wagon by Judy Day wc 13x17 $200

I am inspired by, hum...almost anything at one time or another. Landscapes or seascapes, anywhere in the world, Norway, Brazil, Italy, Greece or around the corner on China Graveyard of up on Electra Road.

I see a combination of colors, shapes or textur4es and they reach out and grab me. Sometimes animals do, like the elephants in Shi Lanka, or the Koala in Australia, portraits of my grandchildren are always fun. Glowers in my yard or in a vase on my table, like I said, almost anything.

O-026 Warm Snow by Judy Day wc 21x28 $350

Playing with paint or drawing becomes a push or pull between the process of painting and drawing and the product you can produce. Do I just sit and play, or do I want to work on a piece of art to hang in the gallery? Sometimes I am having so much fun playing I am surprised a "Painting" is the result.

I teach drawing at the Amador Senior Center the 1st. Friday every month and watercolor painting in groups of 6 weeks at the Sutter Creek Gallery.

I like painting on 300 LB Arches cold pressed paper with Daniel Smith watercolors and drawing on Strathmore papers.

My work can be seen at the Sutter Creek Gallery in Sutter Creek, CA.
