A Sense of Place - in Bold Color
Michelle Magnus Brown is a West Coast contemporary painter who resides with her husband
in the Bay area. She spent her formative years alternately living in California and Hawaii and
received formal training in New Mexico, California and Oregon.

Michelle brings the vibrancy of
those places into her work with bold color and a graphic style.
Michelle studied fine art and graphic design at Santa Barbara City College and was the
recipient of the Frances Siff Art Foundation Scholarship in 1992. She then went on to earn her
Bachelor’s in Fine Art at Eastern Oregon University in 1995. From there, she moved to
Colorado, where she spent two decades working in design, raising a family, training horses,
and creating and selling her artwork in galleries and locales throughout Colorado.  |

Michelle returned to her California roots in 2016. She has spent the last several years building
a new body of work which reflects her latest experiences and evolution as a West Coast artist.
